Patrick
Contributing Physician Author and Editor
Patrick started out with big dreams to become a philosopher. Instead, he found his way to the University of Toledo College of Medicine and struggled mightily during his pre-clinical years (mostly with a nostalgia for his XBOX and leisurely evenings curled up with Aristotle’s Metaphysics). An occasional writer, he became involved in editing and writing questions for other medical students preparing for standardized exams and through this process became a much better test-taker and much better student. He likes sharing the keys to success he discovered from learning about the principles of good question-writing and reviewing or writing hundreds of boards-style multiple choice questions with stressed out medical students and residents (and helping them bypass the time commitment involved with taking a job as a question writer during their already hectic lives). He is currently pursuing a doctorate in bioethics at the Regina Apostolorum University in Rome because he still likes philosophy and because “why not?” He has three wonderful children: Evangeline, Augustine, and Silas (all of them his favorites). He enjoys riding his motorcycle, getting tattoos, and Japanese whiskey (but not all three at the same time). He is board certified in Ob/Gyn and has found some time to play the video games he had been missing during all the years of training.
